A Patriot Day Service was held today in remembrance of 9/11 by Jonesboro Elks Lodge 498 and Roy Wiles VFW Post 1991. Mayor Copenhaver, Chief Elliott, and Chief Hamrick were among the several speakers, focusing on where they were that day and the importance in remembering those who lost their lives. Copenhaver also made a proclamation recognizing September 11 as National Patriot Day. Songs, the ringing of a memory bell at each key moment of the attack, music by the Jonesboro Firefighters Pipes and Drums and a 21-gun salute were all part of the ceremony.
